BUAFL: Edinburgh Varsity game report

BUAFL Week Eight Power Rankings – 1-15 Rankings

Part two of our rankings sees a HUGE slide for a team many considered to be a team who could remain once again, as well as a jump for a rookie team earning minimal respect in a tough division.

1. Hertfordshire Hurricanes (5-0)
Could this be the last time we see the Canes top of our Power Rankings? This weekend Hertfordshire restart their season with an away trip to the number eight team in our power rankings – the Kent Falcons. With plenty of time to prepare for this matchup, we would be surprised if Herts aren't still unbeaten this time next week.

2. Birmingham Lions (5-0)
Just like Hertfordshire, the Lions have had plenty of time to prepare for their matchup taking place this weekend. Birmingham will be travelling to the Derby Braves in another top 25 battle. A victory for the Lions would provide plenty of momentum heading into the huge rivalry clash against the Loughborough Aces in twelve days time.

BUAFL Week Eight Power Rankings – Rankings 16-25

The snow may have cancelled a lot of fixtures, but the big freeze doesn’t stop us posting this week’s Power Rankings! Congratulations to all the teams who managed to go ahead with their games at the weekend and hopefully all those who didn’t can get their games re-arranged before the post season.

Without any further ado – Rankings 16-25!

16. Glasgow Tigers (4-1)
The first team in our rankings were able to play their game at the weekend and continued their winning ways with a victory over the Pyros! If we had a Borders writer then they could’ve made a case for the team moving up our rankings this week, but unfortunately we don’t. With a game against the bottom seed Teesside Cougars this weekend; Glasgow should continue their hunt for the Borders crown.

GB Lions report: Senior and Junior trials

The open trial period for the GB Lions team culminated in two trials held in different locations over the Superbowl weekend. The senior team trialists were put through their paces by Coach Mike Callan and his staff at the Filton Academy in Bristol, home of the Bristol Aztecs, Apache and BUAFL's UWE Bullets. The juniors meanwhile traveled to Doncaster and the Balby Carr Sports Facility, the home of the Doncaster Mustangs to take part in the trials with Coach Damien Anderson and his staff.
