Double Coverage partnership with ELAF

Double Coverage are proud to announce that we will be the official media partners of a brand new European league, the European League of American Football (ELAF).

Helsinki native and League Commissioner Olaf Solrip gave the following quote: "For a long time now Europe has deserved a top level football league. I have a vision for the league that will result in top quality football being played in major stadiums with talent being promoted to the NFL. The competition will be fierce and the supporters will live and die with their franchises just like in the US."

There will be franchises in England, Scotland, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Finland and Switzerland, with further franchises planned for seasons in the very near future. The franchises will be:

Glasgow Clansmen
Paris Revolution
Berlin Demolition
Vienna Vendettas
Warsaw Uprising
Helsinki Hulks
Bern Bombers

There will also be a London Franchise whose name will be decided in a poll on the Double Coverage Facebook page.

Invitational trials will be held in these cities at the end of the month, to coincide with the end of the NFL Draft and an influx of undrafted college players.

Double Coverage co-founder Jon Goddard said: “We are incredibly proud to have been selected as official media partners of ELAF. Our coverage of the game not only in the UK but in European countries such as Finland and Austria gives us a wealth of experience on which to draw when writing for the best thing to happen to European football since the demise of NFL Europe.”

"Our links with the School of Legends and NFL Players Association will allow us to bring in top quality coaches and import players to ensure the quality of the games is entertaining and can build a sustainable audience."

ELAF will use a similar model to European Basketball, with teams affiliated with soccer teams in the same city. This means ELAF will be financially viable and able to entice quality players and coaches. The teams will also act as hubs of developent, with imports coaching in local schools and at nearby teams to help improve the overall level of American Football in Europe.
